Hi! Gotta say that I'm a huge fan and you've actually made me really interested in history. Before your novels, I actually some sort of vendetta against. But of course that's changed now. Anyway, my question: what made you want to write historical fiction specifically? Of all the genres, what was the allure? Thanks in advance and of course keep up the AMAZING work!

Hello Maha!
It's such an incredible honor to hear that my books have sparked an interest in history for you. Thank you! Thank you! In terms of the allure for me as a writer, writing historical fiction is like being a detective. I love discovering secrets, hidden facts, and hidden heroes. In general, I love that investigative process! Sometimes history can be perceived as boring. But through characters and story, historical statistics become human and suddenly we care for people we've never met, we can find their country on a map, and then - the history matters. Through historical fiction we can give voice those who will never have a chance to tell their story. That inspires me!

Hello, Ruta. First, I want to tell you that I'm a middle school teacher and have had so many students absolutely fall in love with your books. Thank you so much for that! On behalf of a student, my question is a two-part question regarding "Between Shades of Gray." (She is so excited I'm asking this!) What took you to writing this book, and what do you imagine happened to the kids after the end of the book?
