Hi Ruta! I read all your books and Salt to The Sea is my favorite. I wonder why you make the main character related with Lina in Between Shades of Gray? Is there any spesific reason? Would you make the character in your next book related with character in your other book again?

Thanks for asking about Joana and Lina and their appearance in both novels. I included Joana as a character in "Salt to the Sea" because I thought it would be interesting for readers to see a different perspective—what happened to the people who fled and weren't sent to Siberia. Yes, I'd love to somehow thread another character from one of my books into my new book!
