Thanks for your question! If I were to branch out from historical novels, I think I'd like to write a thriller. The world building in fantasy novels is so complex and I'm not sure I'm a strong enough writer to tackle it. But I'd love to write a scary thriller!

Hi Ruta!!! I am a HUGE fan of Salt to the Sea and Between Shades of Gray! I love how you give famous events a new perspective, and I feel like I'm really learning as well when I read your books! How do you get inspiration for all of your different characters? They always seem so real, and though I have never been through what they are going through, they are always relatable! Thank you!!

Hi Ruta! Do you have any plans to adapt your novels into movies? I haven't read "Salt to the Sea" yet, but I've read (and absolutely LOVED) "Between Shades of Gray" and "Out of the Easy" and I think they would both make incredible movies. When I read books I picture them playing out as movies in my head and I would love to see your books on the big screen!
