First,I have to say that I LOVE your books. I came across them at my local library and have read almost all of them. I have 2 questions. First, How long does it usually take you to complete a book from start to finish? And Second , What other Author do you think is most like your writing style? Im looking for some more books just like yours to hold me over while I wait for you to do more!! I am always left shocked!

Hi Heather: Thanks for the kind words. I usually write a first draft of a novel in about three months. How much more time I spend on it depends on how good that first draft is. Sometimes it's just a few weeks, other times I've spent more time rewriting the book than I did on the first draft. As for others who write like me, I'm less sure what to tell you. I'm often mentioned alongside Harlan Coben, who's terrific, although I think we have different styles. There are so many writers whose books I love, it's hard to single any out. I think you would probably love Lisa Gardner and Tess Gerritsen.

Dear Mr Barclay
Just finished Broken Promise in one go. Loved it. Great tying together of all the strands, very clever. But why did Duckworth suddenly take an interest in Mathew's birth circumstances? I don't think that was set up as neatly as it could have been, e.g. he could have noticed the birth dates of the still born "daughter" were the same or whatever.

Hi Linwood, I have loved reading all your books including "Last Resort." I often wonder how you decide on the names for characters in your books eg do you pluck names out of thin air, are they the first names that pop into your head, do you try to match a name with a personality, or do you have a naming system?
