Hi Ruta! I'm not a huge fan of historical books in general, but I absolutely LOVE your books. All three of them were really, really good. Which one was your favorite and which one was the hardest to write?

Hi Hannah, thank you for your question! Between Shades of Grey was very difficult to write, Out of the Easy was fun - sort of a break from the heaviness of WWII, and Salt to the Sea provided a unique challenge. All of my books are full of characters I am very attached to and tell stories that mean the world to me, so I don't think I could pick a favorite or say which was the absolute hardest.

Hi Ruta! I first read "Out of the Easy" when my friend made me promise I would read it because she enjoyed it so much. After reading it I checked out "Between Shades of Gray" and could not put it down. I was absolutely taken by your writing and by Lina. I'm not sure I can put into words how much I liked it! Not going to lie, I cried for hours after finishing it. Did you always know you wanted a career as an author?

Hi Ruta! I discovered you when I was searching for an author who shares my name. I ordered and devoured 'between shades of gray' - I loved it. I currently work in a law firm, but I dream of someday writing something wonderful for someone else to discover. Would you have any advice for an aspiring writer? I'd also love to know what your name means. Mine (Rhuta) has its origins in Sanskrit and means 'eternal truth'.
