Stephanie asked Jasper Fforde:

I've read all your published works and love the way you play with the literary canon, scientific, epistemological and generic categories, as well as fictional and cultural expectations. Are there any jokes that critics (or readers who give feedback), haven't picked up? If so, which of these make you most sad and which make you most wryly amused?

Jasper Fforde Thank you Stephanie - most kind! The books are liberally peppered with allusion, and not all literary, so I don't think everyone gets them all, but there is something for everyone. Lots of Tintin seemed to have crept in, and even Star Wars, and on occasion, Die Hard. Sometimes I even forget the allusion myself when I'm reading something back. What WAS I thinking of?!? Oddly, my US publisher had never watched Star Wars, so had no idea what the joke was about when Thursday is accosted in a bar in the Bookworld: 'I'm a wanted man. I have the death sentence in five genres'.
