Do you think using a historical setting for your writing gives you more options or does it set limitations?

Hi Thomas! Great question. It does set limitations, certainly if you are writing about something that really happened, but I enjoy having the structure that creates. Sometimes you have to strike a balance between historical fact and what is best for the story. But I do think there is imaginative freedom in historical setting too.
