You have to be a huge art history buff like myself, how long does it take to complete the research for each book?

Tracy Chevalier It depends on the subject. Usually I research around 6 months before I start writing, and then the research goes on throughout the writing too, as the story often brings up topics I need to find out more about. Sometimes the research feels like it goes on long past the book's publication. I am still learning about Vermeer after all these years!
