I just finished Come Unto These Yellow Sands. I loved the book. Your portrayal of a recovering addict really moved me. I have loved all your books, so I guess I am a hardcore fan. I don't want to get too personal, but do you have experience with addiction?

Josh Lanyon Hi Alan. Thank you for the kind words. Your question is thought-provoking. I have what I consider to be an addictive personality, and so I understand --and sympathize with -- the mechanics of addiction. Because alcoholism runs rampant on both sides of my family, I've always been (or at least once I was out of my twenties) watchful when it comes to my own behaviors particularly in regard to alcohol and prescription, which is probably a very good thing.

Hi, I've got a question. In your novel "A Dangerous Thing," I must've missed something because when I got to the part when Adrien is on one of his visits to the library he's accosted for the first time by this nut job - Rev John Howdie (sp?) - who starts making disparaging remarks about Adrien. How did he know Adrien was gay? Was this from town gossip or something? Just wondering.
