Steve Berry
Steve Berry asked Steven James:

You have a masters degree in Storytelling, which is unique. What's the course of study to obtain this?

Steven James Well, we had classes on beginning and advanced storytelling, story dramatization, linguistics and more. A lot of the course was individualized so you could study what you would be using the most—written or oral storytelling, performing or teaching, things like that.

I entitled my thesis “Fictionalizing Truth: Crafting Personal Experience Stories.” At the time I was very interested in telling personal stories (both orally and in print) and I wondered how much you could change a story and still claim it was true. Interesting stuff, and a very good foundation for becoming a novelist.

My career started off with traveling and performing stories as a family entertainer, but eventually the stories I wanted to tell became bigger and bigger and my career as a novelist was born.
