Goodreads asked Bryce Calderwood:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Bryce Calderwood Don't be "aspiring." Write. Then you're no longer an aspiring writer: you're a writer. Write that first draft all the way to the end and don't stop for anything. Edit it later. Once you written an entire story or book, you've reached a milestone in your life. Now you know it can be done, which means it can be repeated.

In today's book market, you're not just a writer. You're also a publisher and a marketer. Writing is an art, but publishing is a business. Treat it as such. Learn what you need to learn and don't balk at it.
