I’ve found that editing other parts of the work or even the books earlier in the series to be extremely helpful. It helps me get back into the character’s heads and stirs the kettle up a bit. If that doesn’t work I’ll step back and read a book, I have a few on my shelf that are waiting to be read and a few works of Indy authors that are on my wish list.
