Hi John, I really enjoyed The Faithful and the Fallen series and I am very much looking forward to "Wrath". I've also just finished reading Brian Staveley's Chronicle of the Unhewn thrown" series, which I also enjoyed. Can you tell me if there are any other "new" authors, in your genre, that you are enjoying at present? Cheers, Sam
John Gwynne
Hi Sam,
It's great to hear that you're enjoying the series so far, and I appreciate you taking the time to let me know.
New authors that I've particularly enjoyed - Sebastien de Castell. Awesome musketeer-like action.
Miles Cameron - Awesome medieval war, armour-crunching action.
Mark Lawrence - not sure if you'd call him new, now, but his writing's fantastic. Ist series (Prince of Thorn's one) is pretty dark and introspective awesome. Second series (Prince of Fool's one) is more light-hearted, buddy road-movie cool. With an awesome Viking.
Not new but have to recommend anyway...
Bernard Cornwell's King Arthur series, book 1 the Winter King. One of my all time favourite series.
David Gemmell, Sword in the Storm. One of my favourite books ever.
I hope that helps. If you've read all of those, give me a shout and I'll think of some more for you :)
Best,
John

I just finished the Faithful and the Fallen series and its now one of my all time favorite series. I plan to read Of Blood and Bone and know there is a time jump between series. But, I'm so interested in what happens post -Wrath. Do you think you would ever do some short stories revisiting that time period? Specifically the rebuilding of Gramms Hold into "A place of learning. Skill at arms and the healers art."
