Just finished Rock! Do you have any books that you have taken influences from for it? Or ones that are similar that you would recommend?
Anyta Sunday
Hey Jye,
Ohhh, this is a hard one. There are SO many amazing books and authors out there... However, if you are looking for great gay romances with angst/slow burn and an HEA, I would recommend:
Bear, Otter, & the Kid by TJ Klune
Aristotle & Dante Discover the Meaning of the Universe (YA) by Alire Sáenz, Benjamin
Then there's:
Call Me By Your Name by Andre Aciman (not a traditional HEA, but a fascinating read.)
Or, if you are looking for other contemporary stories that I love (not gay romance, but all have elements of romance)...
Flat-Out Love by Jessica Park
One of my most favorite romances because there is so much more to it--I love the family dynamics and just how smart this novel is.
Also David Levithan. Practically anything by him, but my favorites:
Nick and Nora's Infinite Playlist
Dash and Lily's Book of Dares
I also wrote one other novel a couple of years before rock that is similar in tone: nest. I think this story was a springboard for developing the style/mood/feeling I used to then write rock.
I hope this helps!
Cheers,
Anyta

Not a question, just a comment. I finished Cancer Ships Aquarius over the weekend, and want to tell you that I thoroughly enjoyed it. Reid was so dorky, oblivious to how suggestive his random comments were. Sullivan infuriated me being so secretive. Your slow burn moved like frozen molasses, thought it would kill me. Yet I loved the whole thing. Great job! Here's a question mark to fulfill the requirement?
