Goodreads asked Jacqueline Winspear:

How do you deal with writer’s block?

Jacqueline Winspear I am going to take this question as the last today - I have gone over on time!! I have never had writer's block. I don't have the patience with myself to go through it - and here's why: I believe I am incredibly fortunate to have been raised in a free country, and now live in a free country where - in the main - I am at liberty to write what I want and when I want. There is no one trying to stop me. I am not a young girl in Pakistan, for example, attacked for daring to express myself. I am not living in a country where people would kill me to silence me - therefore, I am free to have a voice. I do not take that freedom lightly, especially having visited places where women, in particular, do not have that freedom. I'm not going to waste it by having a block of any kind - so I just work. I might not feel a zap of inspiration when I first sit down, but sometimes you just have to write and trust that it will come. I write knowing I can revise, that I can come back to my words, my dialogue, my narrative, and I can write again. I have the freedom to do all of that, and am feel very blessed indeed.
