(view spoiler)[The hardest to write emotionally was when Sage is whipped and the aftermath in the dungeon, simply because I cared for him by then and it was hard to put him through that, even if it had to happen.
The hardest to write from an author's perspective was the scene by the river with Mott, because there was so much happening in that scene, I needed everything to come off just right. It was a balance between Sage wanting to trust Mott, but not yet being sure if he can, and trying to gauge just how much Mott knows, and Sage's own insecurities about what has just happened with Conner, and with Imogen. I went over that scene dozens of times, making hundreds of tweaks, until I felt it was just as I wanted it.

I love your books! I feel like such a fangirl for writing in here but I read "The False Prince" for the first time in 6th grade and complete fell in love with your writing. I just realized today that you also wrote "A Night Divided" which I read when I was probably in 3rd grade. Thank you so much for writing these books! You've inspired me to write and hopefully one day i'll be able to be as good of a writer as you. ?

Hello! Sorry, I have to fangirl here but I am in love with all of your books I've had the opportunity to read. After a few small debates with friends (in fact, as I'm writing this, my friend is arguing with me) I was wondering: how do you pronounce Roden and Imogen's names? Also, I know there are maps of Carthya and the surrounding countries, but I noticed there wasn't a scale. How big would you say Carthya is?
