Hi John, So, I hear the leading character for your next series is a girl? Was this based on the fact you wanted a change? Or was it inspired through the female heroins in the Faithful & the Fallen? Matt

Hi Matt,
It's great to hear from you, mate.
Yes, one of the leading characters of the next series, titled Of Blood and Bone, is a girl. Her name's Rae, she's focused, driven and has a bit of a temper. Her character was the first thing that formed in my mind as I started thinking about this series, and grew as the plot firmed up. I don't think she was a reaction to writing Corban, the central character of my first series, the Faithful and the Fallen. She just felt 'right,' an interesting vessel to tell part of this new tale. I did enjoy writing the female characters in the Faithful and the Fallen, especially Coralen and Cywen, so that may have played a part in my choice, but while Rae is a strong character, she is different from both of them. More focused, committed to a certain path, but with some major anger-issues.
Hope that helps, Matt.
Best,
John

Hi John! As a bit of a switch up from the usual questions about the next book, would you (or anyone else) have any idea where I could get the first two in hardback? I started reading the series from the library but love the books and I really want to get my own copies of the first two to match Ruin. Unfortunately everyone seems to have stopped selling the hardbacks and I'm struggling to find them anywhere. Thanks.
