If you can say - who is your literary agent? Also do you have any tips on writing a good query letter and getting an agent in general? I'm a young, budding author who could use all the help she can get. Thanks!
Shannon Messenger
My literary agent definitely isn't a secret (I always include her name in the acknowledgements section of the book, thanking her for the millions of awesome things she does.) I'm represented by Laura Rennert with Andrea Brown Literary. And alas, I don't have much in the way of advice on getting an agent and querying, other than to say that I learned everything I needed to know from google. Tons of agents have blogs that give amazing pointers on how to write a query letter or that discuss their likes and dislikes to help you figure out if they're the right agent for you and whether or not you should query them. The only other thing I'll add is that you shouldn't let fear of rejection stop you. You WILL get rejected when you query. Everyone does. So mentally prepare yourself and make sure you're confident enough to keep going.

Hiya, so I am reading NeverSeen and as I was explaining all the different special abilities in the elf world, a questioned occurred in the back of my mind. How did you choose which character got which ability? For instance, how did you decide that Sophie was going to be the telepath, polygot, inflictor and teleporter? Why not make her a mesmer or an empath? Or how Dex turned out to be an incredible technopath?

I have read ALL the Keeper Of The Lost Cities book in about one and a half week—it was so good I couldn't stop!—and I recommended it to my friend, too, and she loved it so much! Um, are you going to be coming to NTTBF? (North Texas Teen Book Festival) You're one of my most FAVORITE authors of all time, and it would be SO awesome to see you in real life!
