Louis Bay asked Chris Bohjalian:

Hello!, Our book club "Fiction Addiction," just finished your book, The Guest Room, we absolutely loved it! On the edge of your seat drama, and suspense, while at the same time bringing up the serious issue of human trafficking. The ending left us with a questions for you though Will there be a sequel about the lives of the characters after everything that has happened? Curious to know how they turned out!

Chris Bohjalian Thank you so much, Louis -- and please thank your book group for me. I am deeply and profoundly grateful.

I'm honored you'd like to know more about Anahit and Kristin and Melissa. Thank you for that, too.

I've never written a sequel. Maybe someday. And certainly I worry about how I have left many of my characters at the end: Laurel Estabrook and Serafina Bettini and Emily Shepard come to mind.

I hope that while there moments in the final act of "The Guest Room" that are shocking and sad, I hope also that there are moments of hope and grace.

In any case, I have no plans for a sequel at the moment. Next up is "The Sleepwalker" (January 10, 2017), and after that "The Flight Attendant" (2018).

Thanks again for your faith in my work.

PS: If your book group should ever read another of my novels, I can join you via speakerphone or Skype. I do it all the time. Just sign up on my web site:
