What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Peter Swanson I wish I had something new to say here, but I will say what everyone else says: Write, read, then write some more, and read some more. Make these two activities your priority, but obviously you need to take some time to send stories to magazines, and send query letters to agents. Do both those things, because you have to, but the writing and the reading is the key. Also, finish what you start. A good book that is finished is worth a lot more to you than a great book that is only halfway done.
