Karla Madalina
Karla Madalina asked Katie McGarry:

I love this book. Do you think a man who starts writing should quit writing if someone criticize his story or how he should describe more characters feelings?

Katie McGarry Hi Karla,

If someone loves writing they shouldn't quit because of what someone says.

I entered the very first story I ever wrote into a contest. I was so proud of that story. I thought it was perfect. I was so, so wrong. I had a lot to learn--particularly in the arena of the craft of writing.

I did horribly in the contest. One judge wrote in the evaluation that they wanted to kill my main character. I cried. I cried a lot. And then I ate some chocolate donuts.

Here's the thing, another judge told me what I did right and then gently informed me where I needed to improve. She also gave me the names of some craft books and online writing classes. I took her advice and that lead to Pushing the Limits.

If you love writing, keep writing. :-) I'm proof that dreams do come true.

Thank you,

Katie
