Goodreads asked Elly Blake:

How do you deal with writer’s block?

Elly Blake Not very well. I flail around and throw myself at the book and sometimes it feels as if I'm flinging myself at a brick wall. Some advice that sometimes works is to get away from the book for a bit: take a break, get exercise and fresh air, take a walk, watch favourite movies, read books you love, whine to writing friends, learn to say no to things that take time away from writing (sometimes stress and exhaustion contribute to writer's block), write something nutty and unnecessary just for fun, set a timer and write anything for 5 minutes, do writing sprints with friends--focusing on word count and not quality, sit near water (lake or ocean), take a drive, take a bath/shower, play with your pet, take a nap, lower your expectations of your writing (that's a big one--sometimes writer's block comes from putting too much pressure on ourselves.)
