Jacquelyn Chappel
Jacquelyn Chappel asked Roxane Gay:

Roxane, In Bad Feminist, you share your experience of being gang raped. What do you think we (educators, coaches, parents, friends, the government) can do to educate young men about healthy sexual relationships and deter sexual violence? Do you think there is anything we can do to get boys up to speed and be better human beings?

Roxane Gay We have to encourage boys and young men to recognize women as their equals. We need to educate them about consent in age-appropriate ways from a very young age. We need to do away with phrases like "boys will be boys." I would caution against feeling that boys aren't inherently better human beings though. Boys are grand human beings until they are led astray by bad people or peer pressure or a lack of guidance.
