Hi Rick! As a non-binary and queer person, I really just want to say thank you so much for giving us representation and not ding a terrible job on it. Every time I see Hammer of Thor or House of Hades or Blood of Olympus or Hidden Oracle in the 'ages 9-12' section of Barnes and Nobles, it gets me super pumped up. What research, if any, did you do to accurately represent trans* characters?

Rick Riordan Thank you! Not doing a terrible job was definitely my goal, LOL. Like a lot of my characters, I drew on personal experience working with transgender students. During my years as a classroom teacher, I got to learn about how tough it can be for them. I also did a lot of reading. The book of interviews Beyond Magenta was particular helpful.
