Beth asked Chris Bohjalian:

Chris, I have so enjoyed your work starting with your crushingly beautiful Sandcastle Girls, that I am hoping to get to Warwick. I actually have never been to a book event. What can I expect? Will you be reading? Is it better for me to read the book in its entirety? Your generosity noted below, kind of creates a small village around your books and reading in general. Cliche but much appreciated! Beth

Chris Bohjalian Hi, Beth!

Thank you so much for your faith in "The Sandcastle Girls." It's such an important book to me.

And I am so flattered you are coming to the Warwick, RI event on Wednesday, January 25 for "The Sleepwalker." Thank you for that, too!

I want my events to be fun. I want my readers to enjoy every moment.

Usually I tell stories about writing and about the book, I read a few minutes and I answer whatever questions people have. There is always swag. I love swag.

Each appearance lasts about an hour and then I sign whatever books, shirts, scraps of paper, and tattoos readers have handy.

Some people will have read the book and some will not. I do my best to make sure that no one accidentally spoils the ending.

There is no exam.

And no pressure.

So, how does that sound?

Thanks so much for asking.

Have a great holiday season.

All the best,

Chris B.
