Hello Chris, My bookclub will be discussing The Sandcastle Girls in January. I was wondering in you have any background you could share, such as why you wrote the book and what parts of this book are most personal to you, as a person of Armenian descent? We are a group of 50 - 80 year old women, who have been reading books together here in Houston, TX since 1994. Thanks, Gwen

Thanks, Gwen. I appreciate your faith in my work.
First of all, here is the page for "The Sandcastle Girls" on my web site. You can read a number of articles I have written on "Reader Resources:"

Here are some links to other articles I have written about the Armenian Genocide for the New York Times or the Washington Post or the Boston Globe or Newsweek. They should help, too. Some are about my family:

Hi Chris! Its me again.....I recently finished an ARC of the Flight Attendant(and I loved it.) I do plan to buy the hardcover copy when it is released. I loved your main character, the flight attendant Cassie Bowden. (Yes, she is flawed in many ways, but she is compassionate at certain times with sheltered cats and her niece and nephew.) What inspired you to write this?-Marc

I belong to a bookclub and we are set to read CLOSE YOUR EYES, HOLD HANDS. I read it the week it came out. I found this novel very prolific. I also thought it was different from some of your books. Where did you come up with the different aspects of this book. For example: nuclear meltdowns, homelessness, tragic teenagers etc.
