Recently reread both Capt V'sA and GJatRQ. Started speculating that the trip Miles went on just after meeting Tej may have been the trip in Cryoburn. However, that would put Aral's death somewhere very soon before/after the sinking of Impsec. So I tried using Helen's age, as stated in Cryoburn and GJ...and I don't think those work, either. In Cryoburn, Miles says the twins are 5; in GJ, they're 11. Help?
Lois McMaster Bujold
The twins' age may end up being something like the location of Watson's wound, I'm afraid. You can close much of any perceived gap by positing 5-almost-6 and just-turned-11.
Cryoburn takes place approximately 4 years afterCaptain Vorpatril's Alliance. The trip Miles take in CVA is Gregor's follow-up to the Sergyaran weapons theft.
There is also the open question of how long is a year, as each planet is different. Even more brain-bending is the question of what time means on opposite sides of a wormhole jump, but I prudently do not go there.

Have you read or seen any Giradoux? In "Penric's Fox", the passage on whether ghosts can lie reminded me of "The Enchanted", in which the heroine, has a suitor who is a ghost. She remarks that he can answer the riddle of Death. Her living suitor responds: "What makes you think the dead would know the answer? If the dead know any more about death than the living know about life, I congratulate them on their insight!"
