Hmmm...good question. I think I just write what I know, to be honest. I write about things that have affected me in life and what I want to say to the world. These messages are important to me, and adolescents have a tendency to feel like they're the only ones going through all this confusion and loneliness. I want them to know they're not alone, and if they're adults like me, I want them to revisit that time and appreciate how far they've come and perhaps heal old wounds.

I love your playlists in the beginning of every book... they are like syrup on already delicious pancakes.
