The jacket illustrations for Volumes 1 and 2 of the Sharing Knife look like they were a single painting. Do you have a combined image?

Yes, it was, and the original is hanging on my library wall. The picture-as-a-whole was used for the Science Fiction Book Club combined edition of the first two volumes.

The first two volumes with the images separated were supposed to be displayed side-by-side in bookstores, but alas no bookstores noticed the connection, so that little bit of intended PR fell through the cracks.

I was reading a thread (https://bit.ly/3FKJuMs) on how it was once considered prestigious for women in China to spend their entire lives - or as much time as possible - in decorated, raised canopy beds, and instantly thought back to float-chairs. The described attitude towards them especially seemed similar, as did one of the stories about the practice related in the post. Was this tradition an inspiration?
