Cheryl Dennemann houston asked Kristan Higgins:

I have a soft spot from The Best Man, "check the toast," kills me. Parker's spin off with "Thing One." I even e-mailed you years ago hoping and begging for her story. My favorite have always been your loosely related and stand alones but let's be honest I've read everyone I can get my hands on. Is it hard to end a story and the characters who've taken up so much space in your mind and heart or does it depend?

Kristan Higgins I think you mean The Next Best Thing, and thank you! I love that book, too! And you're probably one of the readers responsible for me writing Somebody To Love, the spin-off. Yes, it is hard to finish a book sometimes. I generally fall in love with the book around page 265, and it doesn't seem fair that I've struggled for 2/3 of the book and have to end it just when I'm starting to love everyone. I sometimes have what I call a book hangover; I mope around, missing the characters, feeling like I broke up with my boyfriend. But then I snap out of it and move on, and before you know it, another 265 pages have passed.
