Love reading your books. How is decided where you go on your book tours?

Actually, I don't! I'm either invited to a store, or a publicist set it up. Usually, it's an independent bookstore (yay!), and they like having events. And we try to spread them out; last year, I was in the Midwest quite a bit; this year, I'm on the coasts a bit more. But if you know of a bookstore who'd like to have me, feel free to shoot me an email, and I'll send the info to my peeps.

Hi Kristan, Your books are both hilarious and poignant. Do you begin a book thinking of the characters, or do you start with the sad/challenging/frustrating situation and fit the characters into the story? ( I love all of your books, can't pick a favorite, but I will never forget the Norman-Bates wedding...)
