Hi Christopher, I'm working on writing my novel. But I was wondering as I was reading the Encyclopedia Alagaesia about the characters and wondering when you were writing the books did you create all of the backstories or was it something that came about the more you were writing in the World of Alagaesia? Thanks.

Christopher Paolini It was a mix of both. When I began writing Eragon, I didn’t know if I would be able to write a book-length work. By continually asking what happens next I was able to fill in many details that I hadn’t thought of originally, including character backstories.
