Why Kumba disappears after the first Liberian war? Wouldn't you think that her continuous presence could intensify the message given at last ?

Pramudith D. Rupasinghe Well, Kumba`s disappearance from the story for a while is for highlighting the importance of some events that the protagonist encounters in life alone and with no emotional support. If Kumba was there, the struggle of the protagonist would not be highlighted, his immense resilience would not be seen and his endeavors will not be recognized. Thats is the simple fact behind 'inactive and hidden-presence of Kumba' since the first Liberian war till the time she is found dead in ETU. And her sudden appearance 'Uncovering her dead' makes the final scene more touchy, intensive and appealing 'Eclipse-like'. That is my opinion as the author but the readers may have their own opinions.
