1) Consuelo and Albert from George Sand's CONSUELO
2) Jane and Rochester from Charlotte Bronte's JANE EYRE
3) Elizabeth and Darcy from Jane Austen's PRIDE AND PREJUDICE
4) Ivanhoe and Rebecca from Sir Walter Scott's IVANHOE
5) Joisan and Kerovan from Andre Norton's THE CRYSTAL GRYPHON
As for why, because they all demonstrate different facets of true love.
