“The material world is all feminine. The feminine engergy makes the non-manifest, manifest. So even men (are of the feminine energy). We have to relinquish our ideas of gender in the conventional sense. This has nothing to do with gender, it has to do with energy. So feminine energy is what creates and allows anything which is non-manifest, like an idea, to come into form, into being, to be born. All that we experience in the world around us, absolutely everything (is feminine energy). The only way that anything exists is through the feminine force.”

“Lord Ram gave Hanuman a quizzical look and said, "What are you, a monkey or a man?" Hanuman bowed his head reverently, folded his hands and said, "When I do not know who I am, I serve You and when I do know who I am, You and I are One.”

“Let my idle chatter be the muttering of prayer, my every manual movement the execution of ritual gesture, my walking a ceremonial circumambulation, my eating and other acts the rite of sacrifice, my lying down prostration in worship, my every pleasure enjoyed with dedication of myself, let whatever activity is mine be some form of worship of you.”

“There are Tantrics who deliberately seek to do more active forms of renunciation, so transgression of social norms and breaking of taboo, and breaking of social taboos especially, is a form of renunciation.”

“Love of God is not a thing which we produce in ourselves by excessive brooding or by self-hypnotism or by any other method. It is a permanent flame, slowly burning in the caverns of all our hearts. […] The basis of all religions is this love of God. For if this love of God were not vital to us, all that the great prophets have been trying to preach would have been unreal and futile. If it were not a real experience which in some sense is shared by us all, an experience which ennobles us and raises us far above the selfish pettinesses of life, no prophet and no religious deed would be able to appeal to our higher natures and establish the claims of religion.”

“Have you ever seen a stereogram?
The 'Truth' the Stereogram shows us is there in front of us. Training and work doesn't make us see it.
It's a point of view, a different way of looking at it.
When you see it you try to explain it to someone else and you
realize you can't.
It simple, super simple, yet almost impossible to explain.
There are 'techniques' to see them but some people may spend
years trying without results. Others can do it in seconds.
It doesn't change the fact that the image is there all the time in
front of us.
And it's Beautiful.”

“Forget not the central truth that God is seated in your own heart. Don’t be disheartened by failures at initial stages. Cultivate the spirit of surrender to the workings of His will in you and outside you until you have completely surrendered up your ego-sense, and have known He is in all and He is all, and you and He are one.”

“Meera loved her deity so much that she would see Him in everyone. When you see a poor beggar suffering, you may get angry at the society or God but Meera would give him food and say, “That is my deity doing drama to invoke feeling of compassion in me and to make me feel like a giver.”

“One of the strangest controversies in the history of Orientalism turned upon the “origin of bhakti”, as if devotion had at some given moment been a new idea and thenceforth a fashionable one. It would have been simpler to observe that the word bhakti means primarily a given share, and therefore also the devotion or love that all liberality presupposes; and so that inasmuch as one “gives God his share” (bhagam), i.e. sacrifces, one is his bhakta. Thus in the hymn, “If thou givest me my share” amounts to saying “If thou lovest me”. It has often been pointed out that the Sacrifice was thought of as a commerce between Gods and men: but not often realised that by introducing into traditional conceptions of trade notions derived from our own internecine commercial transactions, we have falsified our understanding of the original sense of such a commerce, which was actually more of the potlatsh type, a competition in giving, than like our competitions in taking.”

“The Lord dwells in the hearts of all. Who then is his devotee? He who dwells in Him with his whole soul, heart, and mind. Such a devotee not only sees God in his own heart and realizes his oneness with Him, but he sees the same Lord in the hearts of all, and serves God in all mankind, knowing His oneness with all. 'Love your neighbour as yourself,' because your neighbor is your self.”

“How can the bhakta stand apart from his sorrows?
To a devotee this is much easier than for anyone else. He is one who has already offered all of himself. He has laid at the altar of his Lord his entire being. So totally surrendered becomes his worldly and sacred personality, that not only his physical being but his ideas, his ideals, his worldly duties, even his spiritual duties come to be entirely offered at His feet. His joy is only in going on striving for Him. All worries and anxieties thereafter are His. Then on what account should he ever weep?”

“Self-surrender means that we throw the whole burden of life, our anxieties and sorrows on the Supreme Lord who is the Master of all and keep our mind filled with calmness and peace that comes from His constant remembrance.
Cling to the Lord in all situations. Do not worry about anything. thing. Have complete trust in God. Give up all superstitious notions. Do not mind the opinions of the world about you. Court the society of pure and noble souls. Whenever changes come in your life, take them that they come by God's will alone. Take to the changes naturally and cheerfully.
We are ever under God's care and protection. We are never forsaken. God is all love. We have doubts about this because we are not conscious of His love. Let us know once and for all that He is our sole refuge.”

“Since we have started cultivating devotion for the Lord, whose expression is this entire world around us, we will, with extra joy, continue to go to our fields of activity. But of course with a difference; our attitude to our work is now totally transformed. Now that we are constantly thinking of Him and habitually surrendering to our beloved Divine, it becomes easy for us to renounce the anxiety for the enjoyment of the fruits of our actions. We must do our best in whatever field He places us to fulfil our duties. For, as we act we are now recognising the field – nay, the whole world – as the Lord Himself in but another form. All our work becomes our worship of Him, who is the Self in us.”

Jani loosens her hair:

“A temple dancer named Vellayi(meaning fair, white woman) decided to enact an act of defiant resistance to the Islamist commander who was doing this. She seduced him and took him to a top temple tower, and then, as he approached her, she threw him down from the tower, which immediately killed the general. ..she and her community should be given the honour of getting fire for the rites from the sacred ovens from where the food for the Lord was cooked and that Prasad and divine-symbol honours should be given. That promise was made to her, and it was then being followed through generations. One of the towers of Sri Rangam is painted in pure honour of this dancer-girl.”

“The unification or “yog” of all humans in the psyche of the humans, that rises through simple human action or karma, with pure nonconflicted devotion or bhakti to the action and the self, while learning through healthy, effort-less effort or hatha and knowledge or gyana, is the king of all yoga, that is, raja yoga. This unification among humans is the real samadhi or nirvana in the civilized society of thinking humanity.”

“What are the means of bringing forward the psychic? Sri Aurobindo offers several answers according to the nature of the seeker: a constant and sincere aspiration, the will to surrender in the central being, the elimination of selfishness and demand, or a true will to get rid of the movements of the lower nature. In the end, he says, it will simply happen ‘when [we] are sufficiently advanced’.16 Sri Aurobindo then elaborates on different experiences related to the psychic plane—such as the psychic influence in our ordinary life, psychic joy and sorrow, the psychic flame as a first manifestation of the psychic being and the relation of Agni with the psychic fire—and he stresses the different movements of psychic and spiritual transformation:17
Psychisation means the change of the lower nature, bringing right vision into the mind, right impulse and feeling into the vital, right movement and habit into the physical – all turned towards the Divine, all based on love, adoration, bhakti – finally the vision and sense of the Mother everywhere in all as well as in the heart, her Force working in the being etc., faith consecration, surrender.”
