Roy T. Bennett
“Learn to light a candle in the darkest moments of someone’s life. Be the light that helps others see; it is what gives life its deepest significance.”

Anthon St. Maarten
“If we never experience the chill of a dark winter, it is very unlikely that we will ever cherish the warmth of a bright summer’s day. Nothing stimulates our appetite for the simple joys of life more than the starvation caused by sadness or desperation. In order to complete our amazing life journey successfully, it is vital that we turn each and every dark tear into a pearl of wisdom, and find the blessing in every curse.”
Anthon St. Maarten, Divine Living: The Essential Guide To Your True Destiny

“Stay wild, moon child."
I will shine my full silver light on your path, Moon child. Trust your intuition and follow your dreams. When I go dark, go within and tend to yourself, set your goals and release what no longer serves. When I come out of the shadow Moon child, go, be brave, and to yourself stay wild and true.”
Riitta Klint

Seth Adam Smith
“You cannot defeat darkness by running from it, nor can you conquer your inner demons by hiding them from the world. In order to defeat the darkness, you must bring it into the light.”
Seth Adam Smith, Rip Van Winkle and the Pumpkin Lantern

“We awaken by asking the right questions. We awaken when we see knowledge being spread that goes against our own personal experiences. We awaken when we see popular opinion being wrong but accepted as being right, and what is right being pushed as being wrong. We awaken by seeking answers in corners that are not popular. And we awaken by turning on the light inside when everything outside feels dark.”
Suzy Kassem, Rise Up and Salute the Sun: The Writings of Suzy Kassem

Jun'ichirō Tanizaki
“We Orientals tend to seek our satisfactions in whatever surroundings we happen to find ourselves, to content ourselves with things as they are; and so darkness causes us no discontent, we resign ourselves to it as inevitable. If light is scarce, then light is scarce; we will immerse ourselves in the darkness and there discover its own particular beauty. But the progressive Westerner is determined always to better his lot. From candle to oil lamp, oil lamp to gaslight, gaslight to electric light—his quest for a brighter light never ceases, he spares no pains to eradicate even the minutest shadow.”
Junichirō Tanizaki, In Praise of Shadows

Tamara Rendell
“Dreams are like the old stories where wolves are seekers always running, and women carry fire in their bare hands and light the dark paths before them.
Old stories hold that the birds will fly all the miles of the world to tell your secrets to the rising moon, and men will walk over oceans of ice to find one truth.”
Tamara Rendell, Mystical Tides

Shatrujeet Nath
“The universe is all about balance. The forces of light and darkness are meant to keep a check on one another. If one becomes too powerful and starts overrunning the other, that balance will be upset. For the tyranny of virtue is as unbearable as the stranglehold of vice.”
Shatrujeet Nath, The Guardians of the Halahala

C. JoyBell C.
“What would be the significance of the candlelight, if there were no darkness? What would be the power of the stars over our minds, if there were no night?”
C. JoyBell C.

Toba Beta
“There's eternal opposition between yin and yang.
No third party at all, but treason occurs sometimes.”
Toba Beta, My Ancestor Was an Ancient Astronaut

Alaric Hutchinson
“Feeling guilt dims our light. Instead of dimming our light to make others feel more comfortable, we could just continue to shine and foster the rise of the vibrations of those around us.

Being Happy and Feeling Good does not mean you have no compassion for the misery of those around you. It simply means you won’t dim your light to make them feel comfortable – instead, you’re going to help light the way.

At first, your light may be a bit too bright for others and it may hurt their eyes, yet it’s far better to shine rather than to hide your light. When you hide your light for too long, it extinguishes and you slip right back into darkness…unable to find your way until someone ‘shiny’ comes along to light your way and help you to find the light you still possess within, your Soul’s Magnificence.”
Alaric Hutchinson, Living Peace: Essential Teachings For Enriching Life

“Always surround yourself with friends that have plenty of light in them. That way, you will always have candles around you when days are dark.”
Suzy Kassem, Rise Up and Salute the Sun: The Writings of Suzy Kassem

Graci Kim
“There is light within us all, as there is darkness within us all. These two absolutes make us whole. This is the way of the universe.”
Graci Kim, The Last Fallen Star

“We don't always want the light to touch us! Sometimes shadows, sometimes dimness and sometimes pitch darkness should touch us so that we long for the light!”
Mehmet Murat ildan

Danielle Bernock
“Yeah, it didn't work like that because lies cannot protect”
Danielle Bernock, Emerging With Wings: A True Story of Lies, Pain, And The LOVE that Heals

Mehmet Murat ildan
“If there is ever a magical beauty that can be watched hours with great admiration, and that is the beauty of a strong light falling from the everlasting skies into the heart of the dimness!”
Mehmet Murat ildan

Anthon St. Maarten

a heart deprived of this lamp remains captive to darkness, no matter how many lights surround it.”
Dr. Shakira Nandini

“One of the most powerful leadership definitions is light: the ability to release goodness and make a positive difference, which is frequently contrasted with darkness. Darkness represents everything that has been released due to wrongdoing, evil, or bad influence”
Benjamin Suulola

R.F. Kuang
“The night sky shouldn't be so dark," Peter had told her. "If the universe is endless, then starlight should fill all the empty spaces. Light doesn't stop until it hits a surface - so why the dark spaces? From where we stand on Earth, all we should see is light."
"Maybe the universe isn't limitless, then," Alice had said.
"Or the universe is expanding," Peter had said. "And the stars are too young, and all that distant light is still stretching to reach us. And until it does, the night lies dark.”
R.F. Kuang, Katabasis

“I Found the Light

I have witnessed darkness in its most profound form—a grim tapestry of human suffering woven from selfishness and neglect. I have seen the homeless jostle for a sliver of concrete beneath the bridges, claiming a patch of cold ground for the night. I have watched children, their eyes too old for their faces, sift through reeking bins for scraps of food, numbed to the stench of decay. Desperate souls, stripped of dignity, stretch out their hands not for help, but for mere alms. The streets are a river of bowed heads and shadowed faces, a silent procession of the forgotten. In this city, does anyone remember how to smile?

“Someone must do something!” The cry echoed in my mind, aimed at the distant, powerful figures: the government in its marble halls, the outspoken Christian leaders, the lavish politicians, the wealthy executives in their glass towers. I searched the faces around me, hoping to see a hero, one man who might rise above his own struggles to lift up another. I found none. A profound sadness settled over me, a grief for a humanity that seemed to have lost not only its way but its very soul.

Seeking refuge from the biting wind and the even harsher reality of the streets, I pushed open the door to a restaurant. Warmth washed over me. An imposing mirror framed in sleek aluminium and rich wood adorned the entrance, a testament to a world of curated beauty and comfort.

I caught my own reflection and instinctively straightened my coat. But the man staring back at me was a stranger—a coward, a man who had surrendered. I saw a light long ago dimmed by overwhelming circumstance, a voice silenced before it could even whisper a protest, a fighter who had shamefully fled the ring while the real battle raged just outside the door.

The truth struck me with the force of a physical blow. The prayer I had been casting outward had no recipient. The hero I was waiting for would never come.

In that crystal-clear moment, without a second thought, I turned and strode back onto the street. But I was not returning to search for the light. I was returning as the light. A radiant, defiant joy overflowed my heart. I had found my reason to live. I would not solve everything, but I could do something. I would shine, however faintly, and impact life, one person at a time.”
Abiodun Fijabi
