Book Geeks and Bookniks discussion

I missed this month's challenge, though I have already read many books on the banned list. This weekend I am looking forward to The Dog Stars and/or Shine Shine Shine.

I'm about halfway through Inversions at the moment so I plan to finish that tonight then I get to finish planning for an October challenge in another group before deciding what to read next. Oh decisions decisions, luckily I enjoy the planning almost as much as the reading!

I'm about done with Before I Go To Sleep. I'ts keeping me up past my bedtime every night this week. Hope to finish tonight.

Then will start on State of Wonder a co-worker lent it to me.

My nine year old and I are working on Dead End in Norvelt has promise.

I really enjoyed that book.

I am halfway through Year of Wonders: A Novel of the Plague and really liking it. I so admire Brooks's writing; what a master with language! I also appreciate the tight, focused plot and fleshed-out main characters. After this, I'm sure I will choose another fiction, as I had been reading a lot of non-fiction before this and am still kind of pooped out on NF for the time being.

I'm about halfway through The Blind Assassin and it's really holding my interest.

LOVE reading on the weekends!

I just ordered The Dog Stars. I should have it next week. And I LOVED both State of Wonder and Year of Wonders: A Novel of the Plague. I'm still working on all 600+ pages of Winter's Tale. It's a reread for me, and though I'm enjoying it, I'm ready to move on to something else.

I've finished Inversions and have now started Wycliffe And The Tangled Web to get me through the weekend before starting all my October reads (yes I've now got them planned too).

Funny you should mention Winter's Tale, Melki. I had a paperback copy years ago and never read it. I just downloaded a copy on my Kindle last week.

I am finishing the expat and beginning Blood Work by Michael Connolly

I'm currently reading The Last Policeman. Next up is either Cinder or Escape Artist: An Edna Ferber Mystery. I have Mr. Churchill's Secretary waiting for me at the library, among others, and I'm looking forward to reading that one.

I am listening to Under the Dome by Stephen King and The Collector by John Fowles, reading Engleby by Sebastian Faulks for my local bookclub, Of Men and Monsters by William Tenn for my sci fi group.

I am also reading The Grapes of Wrath by John Steinbeck on my kindle and Classic Spy Thrillers: The Quiet American/A Murder of Quality y Graham Greene for pleasure.

I'm reading The Long Walk and am enjoying it. Before this, I read Year of Wonders and really liked it.

Just finished Mr. Churchill's Secretary, which I really enjoyed. I'd recommend it as a good read for those who enjoy Maisie Dobbs or others of that era.

"Mr. Churchill's Secretary" looks really good. I am reading Ngaio Marsh's mysteries right now after picking up a "Grave Mistake" at a used book store at the beginning of OCT. I finished that on a plane flight from IA to CO. Since then I have completed "Off With His Head," "Singing in the Shrouds," "Enter a Murderer," "Death in Ecstasy," "Vintage Murder," and "Overture to Death and just started "False Scent."
