Patricia Briggs Fans discussion

A friend of mine is moving from Texas to Seattle. Because she has three dogs, we will be driving the 2,200 miles north. As luck would have it, our route will take us close enough to Kennewick that I have convinced my friend to drive through the town. So, next week I will get to tour Mercy's town. I'm really excited. Anyone else been there?

Katelynn--sorry, but you are WRONG. Its a great place for us Mercy fans to go and map out the locations that Mercy would visit. If I were on that side of the country, I'd have mapped out (after combing the books for all the clues) where Uncle Mike's is, where Mercy's garage is, where Marcellia's Hive is, etc. Hum, maybe someone in that area needs to set up a "Mercy Thompson Highlights Tour Company." :o)

I think this is really funny. If I lived within driving distance, I would totally drive around the Tri-Cities just so I could completely geek out. So, I say, have a blast and enjoy the road trip!

Angel--do you still have family and friends in the Tri-Cities area? If so, maybe you should have them bring up Mercy at a meeting of the tourism board. :o) The city I live in has maps based on which war you are interested in for tourists. Want Colonial--that's on this wall, Revolutionary War--that wall, Civil War the wall over there, and John Ringo's Posleen's War--that's on that table there, right next to the Haunted Fredericksburg maps. (And yes, of all the one's I named, only the Posleen one is fiction.) But it is popular with locals and former locals. And all for ONE act that covers one page--the blowing up of the Federal Building downtown. Its Fredericksburg's one and only "skyscraper" (its 5 stories tall) and it totally DESTROYS the downtown area. Which is composted of Colonial, Revolutionary, Federal and Civil War buildings. Oh, and the LAST Battle of Fredericksburg, which takes place in the Walmart parking lot at Central Park (aka Silverburg, aka "the FORMER Shannon Golf Course.)

As you can tell--tourism is the second largest money maker in my area--the largest, of course is the Federal Government, since about 75% of the population either works directly FOR the government or in supporting industries. The remaining 25% earn their living from tourism.

From my house, within about 50 miles I have: Marye's Heights Battlefield (Civil War), The Battle(s) of the Wilderness (Revolution AND Civil War), Chancellorsville (CW), Chancellor (CW), Fredericksburg (CW), Spotsylvania Courthouse (CW) Manassas (CW) Arlington Battlefield Cemetary (CW to present) Washington DC, Richmond, VA, and, and, and. . . Well, you get the idea, right?

So see, your former home-town could get LOTS of tourists (well, at least a few, anyway, right?) AND it would give locals something to hold their noses up at other people when they go on vacations. :oP (What do you MEAN you've never heard of the Tri-Cities area? What are you, an illiterate barbarian?) See? lol
