We analyze texts for their rhetorical moves so we can understand the text better. For example, if I know what the "moves" are, I can better understand an author's bias so I can make a more informed decision about whether a text is believable or not. In other words, I can make an informed decision about the author's CREDIBILITY. We use rhetorical moves ourselves so we can make our point more clearly. So people can HEAR us or UNDERSTAND us better. These skills help us in our lives because we can get what we want when we communicate more clearly!!!!!

i totally agree to what you say. your post makes me understand what and why the author uses these skills. Keep up the good work.

I like that you mentioned we use rhetorical devices in everyday conversations, you are absolutely right!

^^^^^what she said(:

I like that you mentioned, " By understanding... we can add more to our deck of cards and use them later on".

I like that you mentioned we can better ourselves as writers and learn different rhetorical techniques.

i agree and nice sentence structure yay

Nice metaphor, yo!

Yes, I agree, and I also think that we need to analyze rhetoric in 'real life' situations and talking.

Yes, i totally agree. It helps me.

yeah good grades rock yay woohoo you are smart laura

It's not just the grades! It's important to analyze everything within context and purpose to understand what others truly mean.

That you for including intent!!! I was just about to put that in mine, you were one of the only ones that did.

i agree, it helps us improve ours also

It does help with our own writing! It has helped me already!

Edgar's so smart(: i agree.

Yes, I agree. I enjoy taking other's ideas and making them my own.

I agree with you!

Its important to use the rhetoric language to help us analyze other's papers(:. Agreed.

Yes, it definitely helps our own writings get better!

totally agree, helps really pull the reader in!

I like how you distinguished what the author wants to say and actual truth, because in a lot of ways they're totally different things

so busted by mrs.miles hahahaa, but i liked how you connected rhetorical devices on paper to using them in conversation, not something i thought of

This is kind of like what I said. So I totally agree :P

I agree; it's important to look at others' writing so we can not make the mistakes that they do or imitate their techniques if they're effective.

Lol, I like the last part. But looking at others' writing really does help.

I like when you said, "To those who understand our level of personality goes up a whole new level of knowledge " because its so true, being intellectual makes your personality seem more appealing in that category of being smart.

I liked how you made the connection with the word 'deeper' and 'depth' because when you use rhetorical devices it creates a depth and further understanding and clarity to the pieces you are working on.

I like how you said "we can add more to our deck of cards". It's so true because with every bit of knowledge that we add to our current supply, we grow in our minds and as people.
