Chaos Walking question

One aspect of fiction is weaving its themes seamlessly into te story, making them understandable deep within. Unfortunately, after reading the Chaos Walking trilogy, I feel I have been held hostage to a didactic Lecture with themes so obvious, the author forgot he was telling a story and instead put on sermon robes and went nonstop shouting his themes. Not a story, but a lecture.
