Yes! I totally agree! I'm going to give a speech at some point about the dire consequences of these actions. I want to explain how cell phone use while driving can interfere with the different parts of the brain used. Like, tell which part of the brain is used for cell phone use and which part is used for driving and see how they contradict. I want to bring a very scientific approach to it. That way, it is fact, not merely opinion. Okay, now, back to the debate! :)
Okay, how about hands-free devices? Personally, I'm against them, simply because you're still thinking about who you're talking to and not concentrating solely on driving.
I agree. You might fiddle with the device, and stuff, basically all you should be doing while driving is driving.
Yet, I have a question: does that mean all talking should be banned too?
Yes, I think so. Anything (such as talking on the phone) that partially or wholly distracts you should not be used while driving.
However, what you'll end up doing is banning talking at all in the car, all radio, all other things that have the remotest chance of distracting someone: that will cause great unhappiness among certain drivers that CAN multitask. I agree with the fact to a degree: new drivers should be limited BUT remember the American prohibition, by banning it they just encouraged it

Sorry I don't know how to drive yet, so I'm not 100% sure if driving while using cellphones should be considered a risky driving habit. Using cellphone while driving is currently banned in my hometown iirc, and the first hit of a Google search on "driving habits" is an article that lists "talking on cell phone" as one of the "10 most dangerous driving habits", so I guess at least some people think so. Personally I would support banning it if there is sufficient evidence that it would substantially increase the risk of traffic accident.

Idk but it seems to me that the same argument would also work on drunk driving.

But, as you said, "driving habits", it means that the habit supposedly starts when the person drives, isn't it?

I thought it means stuffs some ppl usually do while driving.

But, according to Leah, the use of hand phones would make us lose our focus when driving. But, why would the driver uses it in the first place?

Well, before driving was made illegal in Maryland, my mother was an expert and driving and talking on the phone. She could turn the car with one hand while the other was on her phone, pressed to her ear.
But many people can't do this, so I do agree with the law. As with the texting law. It's just not smart.

In Maryland (where I live) texting/talking on the phone is illegal. Apparently the government is asking people to actually call the police if they see anyone do these things.

Yes, of course.
Yes, of course.

In MD police are asking people to call 911 when they see someone texting/calling when driving. Then again, I guess the people who see them would also be driving...wut

Now some cars are being made with a bluetooth wireless, so it is hand free, so they press a button on their steering wheel and you can talk to the person
