Rather than a "BookTalk" in front of the class, please discuss your books here.

Some discussion topics include:
1. Are the characters in your book realistic and if so how? Can you relate to them or do they remind you of teens you know? Would you be friends with any of the characters in your book? Explain. NO REAL names mentioned in responses.

2. What have you learned from your book or has your opinion about the topic changed from reading this book?

See where the discussion takes you. Stay on topic, but feel free to have an organic discussion about the book. Read the other discussions on GoodReads for ideas about what else to discuss.

Joe Mihevc | 1 comments 1) The character in the book is realistic because what 50 Cent did in the book is something that kids today would do. This does remind me of someone I know because the person I know has gotten into fights with other kids. I would not be friends with the character in the book because what if I said something that might make him made and he beats me up.

2) I have learned that bullying is a real problem and that it depends what kind of background you come from that influences being a bully or not.

Thank you for joining the discussion, Joe. I'm sorry that you know people that can go off like the character in the book. I guess that just tells me that we really do have to just treat each other with respect and kindness.

Austin Green | 1 comments 1) The character in our book is realistic because some kids these days can relate to 50 cent in "Playground." I, although, can not relate too much to 50 cent, but I can think of a few students who remind me of him and his situation. I would try to become friends with some of the kids in our book to try and help them with their problems.

2) I have learned that bullying can effect anyone, and it has been, all around the world. It doesn't matter who you are, you can be effected.

Thank you for your response, Austin!

You write: "I would try to become friends with some of the kids in our book to try and help them with their problems."

This is a very noble way to live. Acting with kindness and trying to help others is the easiest way to create a better world.
