The Mark of Athena
discussion
who of the 7 is the strongest?

But I still think it's Percy, because even Nico said that Percy is the strongest Demigod he had ever seen. Or something like that, during the last part of MoA.

2. Jason
3. Frank*
4. Leo
5. Annabeth
6. Hazel
7. Piper*

Totally agree with you!

So I believe that everyone is essential and losing one of the seven would cause the quest to fail...

well, okay first of all i should probably say that i could have stated the post better :P
i didn't use the word powerful (or tried not to use it anyway), because when i think of 'powerful' in terms of demigods (and other characters who have special abilities), i think it infers what abilities they have. so, imo, jason, percy, nico, bianca and hazel, are powerful demigods because being the children of the big three, it means that they have certain abilities that immediately single them out as being more powerful than the other demigods.
i used ( or tried to use ) the word strong in reference to their flaws. imo, the fatal flaws are a big deal; its the one thing that will eventually lead to their downfall / death/ whatever. also, the falws tend to be personality traits; i.e pride, excessive loyalty, holding grudges etc.
so in short, i was really refering to the strength of the character personality wise; not power/ability wise.
sorry for not making my post clearer; but it doesn't really bother me though; i find it interesting to know other's opinions and interpretations nonetheless...

Agreed. I very much like the huge variety and diversity of the Seven. It makes it that much more interesting.

Personality wise eh?
1. Hazel (nice girl in general, most stable of the seven)
2. Annabeth ("wisest" of the Seven although she does have pride issues)
3. Frank (seems to be getting his confidence)
4. Percy (HOO makes his character somewhat arrogant which is why he's ranked in the middle instead of the top next to Hazel. If this was PJO!Percy, he would be second or possibly tied with Hazel in first.)
5. Leo (inferiority complex)
6. Jason (Mark of Athena makes him weak despite the fact that he was a level-headed, competent leader in Lost Hero.)
7. Piper (Has Jason issues. Is only on this quest for Jason in general.)

yes...it makes them all more multi dimensional...

Keep in mind that the demigods have different levels of experience, which could factor into their power, as well as their arsenal of weapons. (Percy mentions that over the years, it's easier for him to control his powers and assert authority over the sea, in that Princess Andromeda scene in the Last Olympian.) Percy has dueled four Titans (Hyperion, Atlas, Iapetus and Kronos) and escaped relatively unscathed, though part of that was due to the Styx bathing. As for weapons, Riptide is implied to be far more powerful than most other celestial bronze swords. He is at a disadvantage with distance weaponry, though, unless you count hurricanes and tsunamis as distance weapons.
Annabeth is even more experienced--five more years--but in physical and demigod-ly terms, she's less powerful. But on the up side, with her military strategy and superior ability to think under pressure, she could easily avoid and attack any of the seven. She could plug her ears to block charm speaking, turn invisible (which is a HUGE advantage, assuming the hat works, since in MoA it doesn't function properly), and she knows how to use nearly every basic demigod weapon (knife, sword, bow and arrow), so she could easily attack from that position without having to defend herself with too much difficulty.
I'd have to say that Piper is the weakest of the seven. She has very little fighting experience. She can charmspeak, but everyone is quite aware of that ability and could easily avoid that. I think this is because Piper's main role in the seven is something of a diplomat, a peacekeeper to make sure people get along, not as a person fighting in the front lines. Also, TBH, I'd think she'd get scared at her reflection and trip all over Katoptris in the face of fighting her friends.
Hazel has an advantage with earth and can travel at the speed of sound via Arion, but if the demigods were fighting overseas she'd be in huge trouble. It's hard to predict for her; Hazel's situation would involve a lot more hypotheticals than all the other demigods. Her weapons are pretty ordinary, seeing as shes more os a resourceful person, using what she has at hand as effectively as possible besides her cavalry sword. However, she has some decent fighting experience, having battled Alcyoneus, as well as defying Gaea herself. That's some serious shit right there.
I have to say that Frank is at a bit of a disadvantage. He could avoid Percy's water powers by flying, but then he'd run into Jason's lightning. He could avoid lightning by burying himself in the ground as a gopher, but then he'd run into Hazel's deadly earth powers. On the other hand, he could easily camouflage as an ordinary animal and no one could tell him apart. BUT seeing as these demigods are quite powerful, it would be easy for him to get caught in the huge resulting catastrophes anyway and die on accident.
Jason can obviously use lightning and fly around, but...honestly, I don't know what to say about him. I guess Percy could chase after him on Blackjack, but then he'd be farther away from his power source, the sea. He has significant experience, though, being a praetor and having won a duel with Krios.
And last but not least, Leo! At first he seems like he's not all that powerful--fire can only do so much. Though it is mentioned that Leo could destroy the world if he doesn't control. In my opinion he has the most advantageous weapons of all--the Archimedes sphere. In real life history, Archimedes was over two millennia ahead of his time--his inventions are still being used today, with very little motifications. Some people suspect that Archimedes is STILL ahead of the rest of the human race currently. The Archimedes sphere in MoA is shown to be extremely powerful, as well as all those scrolls and machine plans that Leo saved. His situation is a bit more hypothetical than others as well as Hazel's, though for a different reason--we don't yet know the extent to which Archimedes' stuff could be used.
I think it's easier to eliminate people from the competition, rather than pick the person who has the most power. I'd say Piper is down for sure, then after that Frank. After that, I'm not sure.

Piper is probably one of the most dangerous of the seven. She can say, "wow, I think it's a really good idea for all of you to stab yourselves now!" and they would do it. She doesn't need a weapon. And she is a good fighter, remember the last scenes of TLH?

(Though, off topic, it makes me wonder why Nico and Thalia aren't part of the seven, 'cause they're both pretty dang powerful if you ask me. Maybe they don't have what Hera thinks is needed to defeat Gaea.)

Remember, I said I would be easy for the demigods to avoid it. They could just plug their ears. Also, the sound of waves and lightning is more than enough to drown out charmspeak.
And I didn't say Piper was a bad fighter. I said she was physically the weakest. That doesn't mean she's bad. She has the least experience as well.

Agreed. The problem is managing to work together--which is what Piper is for, to make sure people move along.

For some reason...I'm more interested in your off topic comment (easily distracted I guess?)Anyway, I have a theory...
I think Nico's main role is to lead them to the doors of death. I still think that even though at the end of The Last Olympian, PErcy made that deal for all the children of the Gods to be recognized, Children of Hades wouldn't be seen as the hero type.
As for Thalia, remember Hera wanted to bring the Romans and Greeks together, and her way to do that was to basically kidnap their leaders. I think that her choosing both Thalia and Jason would have caused some confusiong amoung the Gods since they both are basically children of the same God. Also, if that was the case, then she would have had to choose; and she would chose JAson over Thalia because Jason in the position of leadership in the Roman camp would have had more influence over teh romans than Frank or Hazel.
also, Thalia fears heigths...which would have limited her powers ( which ties back to what you said :p )

true

2 Jason
3 Annabeth only when pared with precy
4 Leo Pyrokinesis and great with technology and is just down right funny
5 Frank he can turn into animals that makes him a winner
6 Hazel
7 Piper all she does is hides behind Jason and the power she does have is unstable

And I find it pretty offending that you guys don't give our Wise Girl enough credit! She may not have special powers but she could take practically any of the 7! And she's got the wits and brains to overcome practically any situation.

What now?
It's always been Percy... not Jason. And Percy doesn't need a water source to summon water. Remember when he was cleaning out the stables at Triple G Ranch, he used seashells or something to summon water and clean them. It doesn't matter if Jason can electrocute him. Have you ever fell face-first into water? No, exactly good luck with that Jason (what if I took away your flying abilities, you wouldn't be so great then, right?)
Yup so it's-
Percy ( Plain awesome, no arguments. Control water. Breath underwater. Son of Poseidon. Doesn't get wet. Important. Cool. Modest. Percy+Annabeth= super smackdown. Watch out Jason.)
Jason ( electric. Son of Zeus. Flying. suckish stuck-up nooby ego)
Annabeth (awesome strategist. Super smart. athletic, good in fight)
Leo ( can operate ship, Archimedes sphere. Awesome person. Rivals Frank)
Frank (shapeshifting, duh! good in fight, too)
Hazel ( she's pretty good for underground, but Frank still rivals her power)
Piper ( charmspeak? it didn't work)

2. Jason
3. Frank
4. Leo
5. Annabeth
6. Hazel
7. Piper
Hazel and Piper are kind of useless. but at least Hazel can fight.

I put Jason so low because I don't like him, and for a son of Zeus, his powers aren't that great

u are absolutely correct !!!!!1
Percy <3 <3
I think they are all equally strong in their own way, but I think Percy is the strongest because he is really brave and he is willing to kill him-self if it were to save his friends.

so if she doesn't have that flaw, or is no longer affected by it, does that make her slightly stronger that the others, since she doesn't have that flaw anymore?
so yeah, i think she is a bit stronger than the others.
who do you think is the strongest?
i understand that i'm asking your opinion, but please put a reason...
