Well, yesterday was Thanksgiving which is a huge holiday here in the States and pies are usually an important part of it.
I have two issues with making pies. First, my pies are kind of ugly... I have a hard time getting that nice crimped crust edge and I have had some issues with a good crust. I've tried a number of pie crust recipes over the years trying for that perfect flaky crust.

I never liked the idea of adding Vodka to pie crust, not sure why...I just didn't. So I was really interested when a new idea about what made flaky showed up on Serious Eats
So I tried this recipe instead and it really worked out well. My pies are still ugly, but the crust is flaky and tastes wonderful!
