Good news! I think we can say it is official....A&M is here for the long haul. :-)
Today we hit a milestone. 1000 members!! (Unless a member leaves and it drops back to 999).
Since we only turned 12 months old in late September' I think that is an amazing result.

But what's more important, although we are considered a big group on GR now, we have still managed to maintain the intimate and friendly group feel and I thank all our active members for that.

With the holiday season upon us, Thanksgiving in the US, school kids getting out of school for the year, things have been a little quiet these last couple weeks, so I hope all you members, active or lurker, are enjoying your holidays.

Thanks active members for the time you put into making this such a laid back group. And thanks to the lurkers. Our active members do not realise how many lurkers we have. :-) I hear from many via pms. Lurkers are enjoying our discussions and our groups reads and enjoy just going through the threads looking for inspiration.
Thanks also to our active members for enriching the era threads. Although you don't hear about it often, there are many, many people, who don't post, who rely on the way we have all enriched the Era threads.
When we see books we have not mentioned before and add them to the era threads, others a benefitting and are grateful.

Hello to lurkerdom, too. Lurkers maketh a group. (Besides I might have to be one next year).

Haha! I know! I was nervous that as soon as I posted this thread and compiled my congrats post, that I would go to the members list and it would not be 1000 anymore! I have been waiting all bloody week for it to click over to 1000 so I could post about it! Lol! It sat on 996 all week. Torturing me. :-)

I sighed a breath of relief when I saw it was still sitting on 1000.

Sweet, and here I was the pessimist who thought it would take into next year to hit this milestone. :)

I've been paying more attention this month to who's been reading the group reads and those lurkers are enjoying them. Quite a few 4 and 5 stars amoung the uncommenting portion of our group. Very nice to see. :)

Every month when I send out the group read winners message (which will be in your inboxes soon fellows) I hear back from people via pm to say how they feel about the winners if they have read them, or to tell me that they are happy to see the winner/s and will be looking for it in their library or as an ebook and that while they are too shy to post, they will be reading the book if they can find it.

For me, yes. I've had a gap-year this year, and that's why I've been unshuttable-up. I'd better be less active next year, but I doubt you'll be rid of me. I enjoy this way way too much.

I'd like to thank the mods for this year. I'd have to be paid millions to be a mod, but you guys have done a fantastic job in every aspect.

(Is it Christmas yet? People are being so nice to each other...)

Bryn, thankyou very much. :-) Modding can be fun...I do hugely enjoy setting up the group reads every month...and yapping too much...but modding also can be a demanding little bit of volunteering. Lol. Rewarding though, so that's good.

Well I am happy that you have been unshuttable-up. And I'm glad that you will still try and swing by next year. :-) We have very few Aussies in here as it is.

It could be Christmas or holiday cheer abounding....but take comfort in the fact that we don't have to pat each other on the back again until we hit 2000!

Congrats Terri and Dawn!! You guys really are THE BEST mods and it shows in the awesomeness of the group! I lurked around a bit before I started getting involved. ;) I love the group reads and the discussions! I love looking through the threads, bit by bit. I haven't gone through every thread yet but I look at that as something fun to look forward to. :)

There's a reason this group keeps growing...well, several actually, but it's the humour, the openness to new authors and I think the two pronged monthly reads all help. Plus, while there's a desire to keep threads on track, there's no militant policy when the rails get a bit bendy.
It's warm and comfy - a local pub feel.
Thank you for that Terri and Dawn for hosting this and everyone else for being so friggin' cool!

We should post threads like this all the time, it makes a person feel all warm and fuzzy inside. :)

It is really good that the feel I get from the group seems to be the same feel others are getting and that is fab. The feedback helps us.

I have to say that I "visited" some other groups but I haven't been able to find this friendly atmosphere anywhere else. So, good work Terri and Dawn, and thank you!

I look for other groups that I like too but I never find any I like as much as this one. :)

Yeah, I belong to twenty groups, but my chat statistics are through the roof with this one, as against the others. That's because of the atmosphere. Well, and the content.

I spend most of my time either here or at the World War II group.

Which is funny, because Rick, Michael, Geevee and Mike are buddies of mine and Dawns. So you have landed in two groups where the mods are all mates :-)

This is because you take care to answer to all of us (even to cookiemonsters) which I think is very commendable :)

I thought in honour of hitting the 1500 member mark I would mention that Terri is now sitting at 7548 comments. Which is over 4 times the amount of the next most prolific person in the group. :)

1500 members. Wow. So hard to believe sometimes that it is that many...and climbing every week.
Of course not all those 1500 are active, but members who don't post or vote on polls are still watching and getting book recommendations from our threads.

I adapted the thread title to reflect the new membership number. :]

I was checking out the date the group started (we are almost 2 years old!) and saw that we are also getting closer to 2000 members, which is quite exciting. :)

But the real reason I'm posting is that Terri is coming up to a milestone soon. She has currently 9505 comments and we all know that she will take no time at all to reach 10000 comments. All in less than 2 years!!

Wow! 10,000 posts. That's an impressive statistic right there. We should get her a plaque or something. Especially since many of those posts are made to keep headaches, like me, in line.:) Post on, Terri!

I've been here half the time, and haven't even posted a tenth of that. Impressive!

I've been here almost exactly the same time and I've only posted a fifth of that. She's a very prolific woman!

I think all three of you do a fantastic job. Simona mentioned further up this thread that you always take the time to respond to all of us, and that is so true. That is one of the things that makes this group unique, I think. Even when I say stupid stuff, I never feel like I'm talking to myself. It makes us feel at home.
