Jane (PS) | 24334 comments So which book did you read this month (November) that really sucked you in, made you think, or perhaps moved you to tears?

Did any book just simply make you cry in pain at having to read it?

Get it all out here in this thread :)

Fran | 12278 comments Hi Jane!

I had two favorites this month...

The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight by Jennifer E. Smith - I just thought this one was so well done. I felt Hadley's pain and confusion over her parents' divorce. Her anger, sadness and her eventual beginning of acceptance. And such a sweet budding love story going on at the same time. This was a 5 star read for me and a definite favorite.

I also loved Lumberjack In Love by Penny Watson . This is just a feel-good, make you smile romance between a 'lumberjack' and a city girl. He is hunky and charming, she is a fish out of water and trying to get her head around liking someone who lives in the 'wilderness'. Just super cute.

Jane (PS) | 24334 comments I didn't have 5 star reads this month (so far!) but there were two very high 4 star books:

Acrobat by Mary Calmes by Mary Calmes & No Souvenirs (Florida Books, #3) by K.A. Mitchell by K A Mitchell.

I always love Mary Calmes work, and she worked a bit outside her normal parameters with this book but it still had her signature all over it.

K A Mitchell can be a bit hit and miss for me, but this was a great book with some great non-standard action/emergencies.

My 'surprise' this month was Mackenzie's Mountain (Mackenzie Family, #1) by Linda Howard by Linda Howard. Solid 4 stars. I selected this book due to the Hearts & Tears Tournament: Native American Romance category. This is the first time I have read a book by Linda Howard and I have to say, I really enjoyed it! I'll certainly be reading more of Linda's work - she has a great balance of action, emotion, and romance.

Breann | 398 comments All of these went straight to my favorites shelf this month. Not a bad November!

Who We Are (Bear, Otter, and the Kid #2) by TJ Klune "Well, then, Otter, of course I don’t like Bundt cake. It has eggs in it. Baby chicken eggs. You don’t see chickens standing outside of maternity wards waiting to get our babies to make their Bundt cake, do you?”

Bahaha! The Kid cracked me up. My favorite 9 year old, vegetarian, Eco-terrorist. I just love these three. They're too precious. And Otter!! Oh how he made me swoon. He was all growly and "You no touch my man. He is mine." I like me an alpha Otter. Who We Are made me laugh & cry & swoon, I just freaking loved it. Now, I'm just waiting for one from the Kids POV!

Between Sinners and Saints by Marie Sexton I loved this sweet, sweet romance. Loved Levi's patience with Jamie and how he wanted nothing in return. He did kind things for Jamie simply because he loved him. *sigh*

Shattered Glass (Shattered Glass, #1) by Dani Alexander Austin met Peter and BOOM! he realized he was gay. I loved that he completely accepted the gay. This book was really really snarky and funny.

Iced (Dani O'Malley, #1) by Karen Marie Moning What can I say? It was Mega.

I just finished From This Moment On (De Piaget, #9) by Lynn Kurland . This book had me up until 2am reading! And I'm currently reading Till There Was You (MacLeod, #12) (De Piaget #12) by Lynn Kurland . So far, this is just as good!

Amy ~Lover of Books~ | 957 comments These are the two that really stuck out for me this month:

Until I Die (Revenants, #2) by Amy Plum
There was a major cliffhanger ending so it's going to be torture waiting for the third and final book in this series to release next year!

The Evolution of Mara Dyer (Mara Dyer, #2) by Michelle Hodkin
I finished this one yesterday and OMG the ending of that book as well! It is going to major torture waiting for book three to release next year as well! I love this series so much!

message 13: by Lori (last edited Nov 26, 2012 11:46AM) (new)

Lori (lugraywil) | 7 comments I am working my way down the Top 100 Contemporary Romance novels on Listopia (minus any Nicholas Sparks, sorry) and I just read Natural Born Charmer (Chicago Stars, #7) by Susan Elizabeth Phillips . Ok, so I'm behind a little, it's been around for a while. What a sharp, intelligent read. The characters were all so diverse with solid background stories and SEP pulled it off! Loved it!

Glad to hear you liked Howard's book! I got my start in romance novels on her books a few years ago, with the Mackenzie series being the first I read of hers. It's a fabulous way to start her work! I hope you enjoy the rest of the series, along with her other works. I agree....she is great in combining all the good stuff you want in a book.

As for me, I read Maya Banks' Highlander series:
In Bed with a Highlander (McCabe Trilogy, #1) by Maya Banks Seduction of a Highland Lass (McCabe Trilogy, #2) by Maya Banks Never Love a Highlander (McCabe Trilogy, #3) by Maya Banks

I came down with a bad case of the allergies this past week, and this series definitely helped me get through the ailment. I'm a sucker for highlander novels to begin with, and Banks did not let me down. :)

Sicily Yoder (amishauthor101) | 1 comments I enjoyed reading The Shunning again and watched the the DVD. It always moves me to tears. Ella Mae is my favorite character.

Oh yes definitely sooner, it was a great book! I really liked that the author wrote about both the 1800's and the present day.

Amy ~Lover of Books~ | 957 comments Here is another fave I've finished today:
The Rise of Nine (Lorien Legacies, #3) by Pittacus Lore
I can't wait for the next book in this series! Love this series!

message 21: by Carina (new)

Carina (ccacc) | 4 comments I only started completing my GR account this week and filling in my "read books".

Yesterday I noticed that I'd marked Judith McNaught's "Paradise" as read... but I actually mistook it for another one. The one I read was "Perfect", the second book from that particular series (it's not a trilogy though, the stories aren't connected).

Anyways... so I went ahead and read "Paradise"... and loved it! In my opinion this one is infinitely better than "Perfect". The only catch: it's extremely long! Thanks to the good writing it doesn't feel too long, but it definitely requires over a day to finish.

Paradise

LOL - it can take me weeks to finish a 'long' book ;)

Carina (ccacc) | 4 comments Ahah. But I'm an exceptionally fast reader! I usually finish most books in one day, particularly in the romance genre. If it takes me longer than that... it has to either be an exceptionally long book or have such a complex plot that I have to stop to take it in. :P

message 24: by Diana (new)

Diana Susma | 2 comments During the month of November i read so many books and loved them all.

Hush, Hush (Hush, Hush, #1) by Becca Fitzpatrick It might be a fantasy, YA series - but it has a lot of romance in it which I loved! The evolution of characters, the funny parts and the love story, will suck you in. I finished the whole 4 books series in 3 days and a half.

Perfect Chemistry (Perfect Chemistry, #1) by Simone Elkeles This series has a total of 3 books. Romance meets YA - its a non fiction book so everything is very real and true. I felt very close to the characters. It's an easy read so i flew by these three books.

Enjoy!

Maggie (maggie003) | 51 comments My favourite read of November was Shiver (The Wolves of Mercy Falls, #1) by Maggie Stiefvater , loved this book, and I'm looking foward to read the next 2 :)

message 26: by Vi (new)

Vi | 2794 comments November was a pretty good month for me. I had 3 five stars book:

Suddenly You by Sarah Mayberry - Loved the characters & story. Looks like Mayberry can write only awesome books.

Elantris by Brandon Sanderson - I've loved Sanderson's Mistborn trilogy and thought I'll give this a try. It's his first book but his imagination is awesome. The world building and the characters are really superb. I couldn't put the book down. Sanderson is officially one of my favorite authors - so much that I'm considering starting the Wheel of Time fantasy series just to read the books that he has written!

Lastly - Azhwargal Ore Eliya Arimugam by Sujatha - a book in my native language about some of the greatest poet-saints of Hindu religion. A friend recommended and I'm so glad I read it. It gave me some basic knowledge about them which I didn't have.
