The Insane Challenge - 2013
I'm planning on doing this challenge, I'm not sure what books I will read. I'm not looking forward to some of these genres, but It's part of exploring literature.

The mods decided that instead of reading two books for the book club we will challenge people. This is an extra challenge for people interested in exploring more. The regular book club book will still run as normal

You have a year to complete it, if all goes well we might make it a regular event

You can always try the 12, 24 book challenge. We try to offer a good mix, I believe all the challenges have graphic novel in it.

Good to see so many planning to do the 36 Book challenge. I guess if this goes well we might have to add a 48 book challenge next time :P

Erotica - Fanny Hill, or Memoirs of a Woman of Pleasure
Victorian - Great Expectations
Nice choices, I don't know if I can plan that far ahead. But I was looking as some of the genres I don't normally read and think I'll try;
Addition for Chick-Lit
A Sport and a Pastime for Erotica
The Time Traveler's Wife for Romance

The Time Traveler's Wife for Romance

Thanks ;)
I'm especially looking for Graphic Novels in German (translated or original). Any suggestions for that? If not, my local library has a small selection of Graphic Novels, among them a Jim Morison biography, which I would choose over the others (mostly novel adaptations).
Yihaa for Alan Moore's hairstyle BTW ;)

There are a couple of genre that will be a struggle for me - the chief being Noir! Will run a mile rather than read it! Is there such a thing as light and fluffy noir! Hmmm - I thought not!
sorry Sally, light and fluffy noir is an oxymoron. Maybe try something like Dare Me, while it's still dark, it's probably more accessible than other.

Here it is.
Cyberpunk – Cinder
Educational – Free-Range Kids: Giving Our Children the Freedom We Had Without Going Nuts with Worry
Espionage - Angelmaker
Fantasy - Crescendo
Graphic Novels - Maus, Vol. 1: My Father Bleeds History
Horror - The Strain
Paranormal – Sins of the Night
Philosophical – Lord of the Flies
Poetry – Out of Australia
Post-Apocalyptic – Delirium
Steampunk – Clockwork Angel
Supernatural - Need
True Crime – In Cold Blood
Urban Fantasy - The Rook
Victorian - Soulless

And a big thanks to Michael for helping me with my list. I got stuck on more than a few genre.
Now that I've got them selected I can't wait to start reading them :D

Some of them are certainly hard to work out when we're not used to them;)

Clicking on the noir link I noticed that Jim Butcher's Dresden series is classed on noir - so I might give one of them a go - they are very dark mysteries that I stopped reading a few years back - will pick the next one in the series up.

That's nice - how do you line them up like that?
