I'm planning on doing this challenge, I'm not sure what books I will read. I'm not looking forward to some of these genres, but It's part of exploring literature.

Franky Wow, I would like to try this one. Are these books that we choose included in the ones that we are reading for this group. I think the 24 book one is more for me.

The mods decided that instead of reading two books for the book club we will challenge people. This is an extra challenge for people interested in exploring more. The regular book club book will still run as normal

Sandie wrote: "Wow this sounds awesome. I would love to try this. How long do we have to complete it?"

You have a year to complete it, if all goes well we might make it a regular event

message 9: by Sam (new)

Sam (aramsamsam) I'm in! Maybe I won't have the time to read 36 books for this, but this is definitely the most interesting level, I wouldn't want to stick to the cookie-cutter genres. And I've always wanted to read a graphic novel! Oh, I'm exciteeeed!

message 10: by Michael, Mod Prometheus (new)

Michael (knowledgelost) | 1255 comments Mod
You can always try the 12, 24 book challenge. We try to offer a good mix, I believe all the challenges have graphic novel in it.

message 11: by Kim (new)

Kim I will try this one. I actually read almost all those genres anyway but there are few I've never tried.

Thanks ;)
I'm especially looking for Graphic Novels in German (translated or original). Any suggestions for that? If not, my local library has a small selection of Graphic Novels, among them a Jim Morison biography, which I would choose over the others (mostly novel adaptations).
Yihaa for Alan Moore's hairstyle BTW ;)

message 29: by Sally906 (new)

Sally906 Well because I wanted to make life easier for myself and ease back on the number of challenges next year - I am going to do the Insane challenge!

There are a couple of genre that will be a struggle for me - the chief being Noir! Will run a mile rather than read it! Is there such a thing as light and fluffy noir! Hmmm - I thought not!

message 30: by Michael, Mod Prometheus (new)

Michael (knowledgelost) | 1255 comments Mod
sorry Sally, light and fluffy noir is an oxymoron. Maybe try something like Dare Me, while it's still dark, it's probably more accessible than other.

message 31: by Teresa (new)

Teresa (teresa_bowen) I'd like to join in please, I love reading challenges, have been wanting to read more from different genres for a while and always have a 52 books per year personal challenge. This sounds perfect for me. I don't intend to plan too far ahead, maybe a months worth of books at a time.

Some of them are certainly hard to work out when we're not used to them;)

Clicking on the noir link I noticed that Jim Butcher's Dresden series is classed on noir - so I might give one of them a go - they are very dark mysteries that I stopped reading a few years back - will pick the next one in the series up.
