What is the most important thing (object/person) in your character's life?

Please consult your rubric and models to ensure that you are doing your best work!

For a “4”: Did I….
• Write a topic sentence that provided the title, author, and genre of my text?
• Provide context of what is happening in the text, so my reader understands what I’m talking about?
• Find a direct quote from the text that proves my idea?
• Thoroughly explain the significance of my quote/how it proves my idea?
• Check for correct punctuation and spelling?

Ben Friedman | 25 comments Five months ago Valerie Leftmans boyfriend, Nick, opened fire on their school cafeteria. Shot trying to stop him Valerie acidity saved the life of a fellow classmate, but was questioned about the shootings because of the list she helped create. A list of people and stuff she and Nick hated. The list he used to pick his targets. Now, after a summer of problems, Val is forced to confront her guilt as she returns to school to complete her last year. Haunted by the memory of the boyfriend she still loves and navigating rocky relationships with her family, old friends and the girl whose life she saved, Val must come to confront with the tragedy that took place and her role in it, in order to make life better and move on with her life
Through the book Val is questioned by doctors under goes many situations due to the fact she helped crate the list in witch the kids on it would be educated. This is most important to her because if she had never crated the list with her boy friend nick this situation could have been avoided. Unfortanitly for Val she did help with the creation of the list witch rusulte in murder and ultimenly a life time worth of guilt. The past reasons are why I feel the most important thing to the main character Val would without a doubt be the list.

Kailey | 23 comments In the fantasy book "New Moon" by Stephenie Meyer, the most important thing to Bella, the protagonist is Edward. Even if Edward has left her for about a year she still doesn't want him to die. He feels he should died because Alice had a vision that Bella jumped of a cliff and never saw her come back up so Alice assumed she was dead. So Edward felt like he didn't want to live without her, so if Bella was dead he wanted to dies so in the afterlife they could still be together. "And I realized that my delusions were more flawed than I'd realized; they never done him justice...and I could appreciate that"(451). This quote shows that Bella could never just forget about Edward and that he was always in he mind but never physically there. But she knew that letting him died; she just couldn't live with herself if she let that happen.

Elva C. | 40 comments In the fantasy book Betrayed by P.C Cast and Kristin Cast, the protagonist Zoey has an important person in her life. That person is Heath. In the book, a teenager from Zoey's old school named Brad went missing after his cousin Chris went missing and died. Heath was putting fliers of Brad's face on lampposts. Zoey saw Heath and they were talking together. Heath was telling Zoey how he loved her, but Zoey keeps on telling him that she didn't feel the same. But even though Zoey didn't like Heath, he was still something important to her because he would always be there for her. "... His daddy had raised him right. Since third grade he'd been a gentleman, opening doors for me..." This quote shows how Zoey appreciates Heath. In the book, when Heath says that he would walk Zoey to her car, Zoey doesn't argue because even though Zoey doesn't like him, she still likes Heath as a friend. Heath also stays on Zoey's side, no matter what she looks like. Heath even stop drinking and smoking just for Zoey, and Zoey was proud of that and was very happy for him, because she was worried about Heath, because he means something to her too.

Monica | 43 comments More adventures in the fantasy book, Chosen, by P.C Cast and Kristen Cast! What is going to happen next? For people who are reading the first and second book, too bad! I am going to ruin it for you. Zoey, my protagonist is feeling guilty of having relationships with 3 different guys at a time. Erik, her most current boyfriend has been loving her a lot, as usual. Her human ex-boyfriend, whom she has imprinted with, is dieing to see her, and finally, Professor Blake, whom is sort of using Zoey because his lover, Neferet told him to. After a couple of days, Erik had caught Zoey and Professor Blake having a "special moment" together and just exploded at Zoey. Zoey had been ashamed and was filled with sorrow as he said all that, and she felt heartbroken. Therefore, Erik symbolizes the most important person in Zoey's life. "Stop playing games with me. And you think Aphrodite is a hateful bitch? You make her looking like a fucking angel! (260.) This quote shows how Erik feels hurt by Zoey cheating on him with Professor Blake. Before, the first time Zoey entered the House Of Night, she saw Aphrodite trying to give Erik a blowjob. She felt disgusted and that was when Erik fell in love with Zoey. Now, Erik is saying that Zoey is even worse than Aphrodite while Aphrodite did more hateful things than Zoey. Erik is feeling more hurt than ever, since he loves Zoey a lot and doesn't want her to step into danger. He had claimed that Professor Blake has been using Zoey for her magnificent powers controlling the 5 elements. Zoey is in a tight labyrinth right now. She doesn't know what to do next to make all her friends forgive her.

Matthew | 34 comments In the fiction book, The Test, by Peggy Kern, Liselle's favorite person is her father. Her dad was most important to her because he she loved him most. He never got mad at her when she did things wrong at school. One day when she came home from school she asked her mom "Did Dad ask for me?" as her face brightened. This proves that he was important to her because she wanted to know if he asked for her and her face lit up. Liselle's father is most important to her because he doesn't judge her for what she does.

Ramsey (TheRamsey3000) | 7 comments In the historical fiction book "Island of the Blue Dolphins" by Scott O' Dell, Karana, a 13 year old Native American girl living on a island in the Caribbean's, most important person is her brother, 7 year old, Ramo. Ramo is the most important person in her life because when her tribe was leaving to go to Santa Catalina, it was a very windy and a storm was coming. Ramo had forgotten his fishing spear and tryed to go back, but Karana wouldn't let him. Once everyone got on the ship Karana went looking for Ramo, then someone spotted him on the shore! He had been left behind! Karana didn't want to leave him, so she dove into the stormy ocean and swam all the way back to Ramo! She could have drowned, but all she was worried about was getting to Ramo. "There, running along the cliff, the fishing spear held over his head, was Ramo... At that moment I walked across the deck and, though many hands tried to hold me back, flung myself into the sea." p.37-38. This quote shows how much she cares for Ramo and how she would leave her tribe and risk her life for him. This is why Ramo is Karana's most important person.

Mark | 33 comments In the book, The Scorch Trials by James Dashner, what matters most to the protagonist is his friends the gladers. Thomas, Teresa, and various gladers made it out of the glade trials. Currently they are in a different trial which is more advanced than the glade. Not many of the gladers made it out and now in the new trials there are two groups that try to kill each other. Thomas really cares about the gladers because they are all he has left. They all look out for each other and support each other during these hard times. A quote from the book that shows what matters most to Thomas is the galders. “Guys don’t worry I got your back let’s just keep moving, alright this time Thomas gave the order so let’s move Minho said with sarcasm in his voice. Wait so how did you guys know I was trapped in the cave with psychos, well Frypan saw you getting attacked so after he told us we all gathered up made a plan to get you guys back. Wow thanks you know I don’t know what I would do without you guys.” This quote shows how Thomas really cares about the gladers by having their back as they were walking through the cave furthermore, the gladers saved his life and now not only does he care about them, he appreciates their friendship.

There are many priorities in his life with the blood and killing. But there is always something more important than anything in his life. His job is the thing that comes before everything else as well as the case he is working on. Solving the mystery, finding alibis, and look for evidence. His job as a detective is most important because he needs to protect people around. His job comes before anything else. He questions people. A person Annie, and ask her if she knows anything about the case. Wondering about the case though, he struggles to find out what has happened at the crime scene

In Walter Dean Myer's realistic fiction book called "Monster", the protagonist is Steve Harmon who is a 16 year old teen and is in court trying to find out if he is guilty or not in a murder case. The story starts off with Steve starting his court trial. He has a lawyer named Kathy O'Brien and she will help defend Steve from being in jail for the murder. During the court time, there has been tons of arguments over tons of people due to the number of people that was involved in the scene. James King is the other person that was part of the murder case. He might have been the one planned the action and he was mostly the one who shot the store owner, Nesbitt. Soon, the court meeting became serious and Steve was fighting for his life. The most important thing for Steve now is to fight to win the fight over if Steve was the murder. Steve really wants to live, but he tries to handle this case in first place. On page 78 (Pages Different on Nook), Steve said, "Cause I'm a human being. I want a life too! What's wrong with that?" Then on page 78 (Pages Different on Nook), "Older Prisoner: You innocent? Steve: Yes." These quotes shows how Steve really wanted his life and needed to fight to live. If he does not win, then Steve will have his life taken away. Steve first says he wants his life very bad and claims to his mates in prison that he was innocent. Steve might have been lying a lot, but living is what everyone wants and Steve wants it. So far in court, Steve has been answering his questions quickly and seems to be innocent, but there is no true evidence yet. He seems to be arguing hard and not just letting it slide, he's holding tight on his life and that makes it an important moment in his life now. Therefore, the most important thing to Steve right now in my book is to fight for his life through court.

Steven Lin | 27 comments In the realistic fiction book called Flowers for Algernon, the protagonist is Charlie Gordon who is a mentally retarded 32 year old man. He is going through his life, writing a log about what he is doing. He had undergone a experimental surgery to help make him smarter. One thing that was precious to him is Algernon. Algernon is a lab rat that has also undergone the surgery. Algernon has been a role model for Charlie because ever since the first time that Charlie had saw Algernon he had always wanted to be just like Algernon. He looked up to Algernon because he believed that Algernon is really smart because he was able to do a maze faster that him. When Algernon was going back to his normal self Charlie was afraid of that Algernon, his only friend was going away. Algernon was one of his only friend when he was still stupid. This shows that Algernon is precious to Charlie.

Zoe is having many problems with her family life because of he new step father, or as she calls him "Step-Loser". Her step father causes many problems in her life because of the fact that he took her mother away from Zoe. Zoe can no longer talk to her mother about anything that is going on in her life because of the fact that her step father now controls her mother. Zoe feels as if she can not talk to anyone except her grandmother. "There is only one person in this world i can truly talk to and it is my Grandma." This quote not only shows that her and her Grandmothe are close, but the fact that if her Grandmother was not there Zoe would feel totally isolated, and could bot talk to anyone which would soon lead to severe depression.

Melanie M. (MissMello) | 21 comments In my Non fiction book "The bully" by Paul Langan Darrell's most important person(s) are his two friends who protected him from danger such as Bullys A.K.A Tyray in california. If Darrell wasnt skinny and flabby he wouldnt really have an important person because he could handle him self. If he wasn't flabby and skinny and stuff he wouldn't have to make a decision about either keep on running from the bully or either just fight back and maybe if he fights back after that there wouldn't be no problems between them ( Maybe)

Trinity Burgos | 31 comments In the autobiography novel The Lost boy by Dave Pelzer, the most important person in dave's life is his social worker, Ms. Gold. One of the reasons why Ms.Gold was the most important person in his life is because, she was able to make him feel safe for once and gave him the mother he never had, because she showed that she cared. Also, not only was she ''a second mother'', she also was his best friend. She was someone he was able to trust in life and always felt very comfortable when she was present. One thing that she had influenced in David is to stand up for himself whenever he feels the need to and also to speak his mind, especially when it comes to things that are not really heathly situations in his life, like his mothers abuse to him. David states ''...To my horror, she told me that the state was going to use ot against my mother. ''No!'' I pleaded. '' She must never know I told you Never!'' Ms.Gold assured to me that I was doing the right thing...'' This test states that even though he knew something bad was going to happen she still made him understand how important it is, and that he's doing the right thing for once.

Then they go through different paths and see a sculptor's creation's which are very real. Whenever they try to escape there is always a trap in front of them that stops them from trying to leave. Another important thing is that there in a library that is dark so they don't really have a lot of sight to see exactly where there going. All they do is follow path's because it gives them hints on how to try and get out.
