This will be a spoiler free thread but there will be more indepth topics through out the month where you can go spoiler crazy!

Hey everyone, this months group read is the first in Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark Hunter series, Fantasy Lover, we hope you'll be joining us!

Is this your first time reading Fantasy lover? Are you looking forward to it?

Have you already started? If so, let us know what you think so far!

If you already a fan of the series, are you looking forward to this re-read and getting reacquainted with Julian of Macedon?!

Happy reading everyone! :)

Angie This will be my first time rgeading it. I am not a huge fan of romance where sex exceeds plot. I am hoping this wont be one of those books. Karen moning for example is construed a romance author yet, her books are amazing.
I will be picking up my copy later today. :)

JoAnna If I'm able to get a copy, it'll be my first time reading it. I'm curious, I know my mom had the whole series and really liked it. =)

Angie Was able to purchase mine tonight for $6. There are 18 books in this series :0 I finished the first three chapters and so far I am loving the humor. ;)

Hi guys! I've deleted a couple comments on this thread because they were promoting book piracy. Remember, if you are unable to purchase a book (it only costs about $6 for a paperback), you should be able to easily find this book at a local library.

Sharing a "PDF copy" of any book is the equivalent of stealing and takes money directly out of authors' pockets. I assure you, being an author doesn't generate a ton of income and every book sale matters.

And just to be clear: Borrowing a friend's paperback is different than emailing a PDF. Because there is still just one copy of the book. When you email it out, you're essentially making a copy of the book for someone else. Now there are two copies instead of one.

Kristi (kristi2200) How do I get out of the group? I can find anyway for me to delete it or anything?

Angie Don't leave Kristi. Just because the leader of the group said no to PDF sharing. :(

Karen Wapinski | 39 comments Sorry, didn't think about it that way.

I don't think anyone's trying to be malicious. We just need to remember if authors don't sell books, they don't get contracts renewed. That means the series end. (Kelly Meding had that happen not too long ago. Lots of people offering PDFs of her books online. She had a large readership, but not enough people actually buying the book.)

So it's essential that readers buy their books (or encourage their library to buy the book) to keep the books coming and food on the authors' tables.

Angie Oh wow. I did not know that their contract ends. I figured that they simple lose money but still have a contract to write more.

It depends on the contract. Most are for two books these days. Then sales determine if they will renew the contract to continue writing books. Some will be for one book, with an option for a second one depending on sales.

@ Joanna & Paula - Hope you enjoy it :)

@Stephanie - I'm in the same baot as you, has been a long time since I read this series. I made it up to about book 18 I but haven't kept up with the latest releases.

@Angeline - glad you're liking it, we'll have more indepth topics going up very soon, look forward to chatting with you about it :)

@Chelsea - can't wait to see what you think of this one

Karen Wapinski | 39 comments Finally found a copy!! I'm on Chapter 9 and LOVE it so far.
As a side note; that's one thing I have to say I love about this book club and the other one that I'm in, I often find myself reading books I really enjoy that I wouldn't have picked up at all some of the time

Jill Bradley (jillo725) | 30 comments I've read pretty much every book in this series except this one. of course =p I was so in love with Archeron, but when his book came out and it just didn't live up to the "epicness" I was hoping for, I sort of stopped reading the series. Maybe I'll pick it up again and see what's happened while I've been gone =p

Jill, I just had to comment. I've always claimed that Acheron is one of my top 20 of all time books because Kenyon covers every emotion possible. She makes you feel pain for a character who has, literally, all the power in the world. But I've never been able to re-read it because of the above-mentioned emotion. I just think it's really interesting to have a venue such as this set up where you can see everyone else's opinions. Thanks for posting yours!

Give some of the later books a try. You may be glad that you did.

Jill Bradley (jillo725) | 30 comments @CPB I definitely felt for Archeron! I was totally engrossed in learning about his horrible past. I thought the explanations for all the mystery was awesome. The problem I had was with the relationship...it just seemed to...simple and easy for me. I won't give away anything more, cuz I hate spoilers like the next girl =p. But, I just wanted something...more for him.

JoAnna I did finally buy the book a couple days ago...I haven't started yet since I was in the process of finishing another book. Hoping that later this evening I can get started =D

Geena King | 3 comments First time read but I bought along time ago. I enjoyed it but it was a very quick read. Loved the humor and even got me to cry at one point. Very similar to Pleasure Slave and Stone Prince by Gena Showalter. Really love Julian and Grace, do we ever hear from them again? I haven't read any in the series but always plan to ( it's on my Mt. TBR).

Karen Wapinski | 39 comments Geena I thought the same thing! I finished the Pleasure Slave a little while ago and thought it would be the same thing; but Gena's had a lot more humour but I found the drama and characterizations better here
If you like this idea can I recommended Marjorie M. Liu's Tiger Eye. Excellently written beginning to the Dirk & Steele books and closer to this sort of genre and writing than Showalter's book

Wow, thanks Karen. I'll add this to my TBR list.
